Lake Eola – Revisited
Only days after I shared information about Lake Eola and the fountain in the middle of Orlando, I read in our local newspaper about the repairs needed on the state of the art landmark. 32 percent of the underwater LED lights have failed with the potential for more to go out soon. However having 68 percent of those lights working is still a beautiful sight.
The City approved a budget of $343,849 for repairs in April. Because the lights are underwater constantly, it is not unexpected to replace the lights every five years even though some will last longer because of the new technology. The fountain was installed in 2011 so we are at the seven year period.
If you visit Orlando soon, a trip downtown at night is well worth your time. The repairs will be complete in time for our 4th of July celebration. The photograph attached was taken during the day during one of my morning walks.
The fountain at night is breathtaking and I will return one night for a photograph to share.
